Bruselas (Bélgica), viernes 12 de enero de 2024 (Lasvocesdelpueblo).- Este diario digital español va a reproducir, a continuación, la carta de VOX a Asuntos Internos y Europol por Alejo Vidal-Quadras, firmada por 28 eurodiputados, para el ingreso del sicario franco-tunecino Mehrez Ayari, buscado por la Audiencia Nacional de España, en los listados de fugitivos más buscados por la Unión Europea.

El 9 de noviembre de 2023, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, cofundador del partido político VOX, expresidente del Partido Popular en Cataluña y exvicepresidente del Parlamento Europeo, sobrevivió a un intento de asesinato cuando un hombre armado le disparó en la cabeza en Madrid.
Este trágico acontecimiento, aunque afortunadamente no fatal para nuestro querido Alejo, conmocionó profundamente a todos los españoles de buena voluntad, así como a muchos de nuestros colegas aquí en el Parlamento.
Mientras la policía continúa su investigación sobre el incidente, la mente o mentes detrás del ataque siguen siendo desconocidas, y el principal sospechoso del tiroteo es el sicario franco-tunecino Mehrez Ayari, buscado por la Audiencia Nacional de España.
Pese a ello, el Gobierno de Pedro Sánchez ha decidido no incluir a Ayari en las listas de más buscados de Europol e Interpol. En cambio, las autoridades españolas han priorizado la captura de un hombre de 71 años buscado por un asesinato ocurrido en 2003, cuyo nombre, en lugar del de Ayari, ha sido añadido a las listas de Europol e Interpol.
Así, Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón parece desestimar la gravedad de este atentado contra la vida de Alejo Vidal-Quadras, es decir, un miembro de la oposición, e ignorar la urgencia de detener al sicario que lo llevó a cabo, con el fin de descubrir la mente o las mentes detrás.
Además, la lista de los más buscados de Europol está gestionada por ENFAST (Red Europea de Equipos de Búsqueda Activa de Fugitivos). Cabe destacar que ENFAST, que está bajo presidencia española desde que FAST España se hizo cargo del proyecto en 2021, no ha incluido a Ayari en la lista de Europol por iniciativa propia.
Por todo lo anterior, los eurodiputados abajo firmantes instamos a que se consiga, sea en coordinación con FAST España y el Ministerio del Interior español o no, la inclusión del nombre de Ayari en la citada lista.

Dear Commissioner, Dear Director,
On ninth of November 2023, Mr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, co-founder of the political party VOX, former Chair of the Partido Popular in Catalonia and former Vice-president of the European Parliament, survived an assassination attempt when a gunman shot at him in the head in Madrid. This tragic event, although fortunately not fatal for our dear Alejo, deeply shocked all good-willed Spaniards, as well as many of our colleagues here in the Parliament.
While the police continue their investigation into the incident, the mind or minds behind the attack remain unknown, and the prime suspect for the shooting is the French-Tunisian hitman Mehrez Ayari, sought by the National High Court of Spain.
In spite of this, Pedro Sanchez’s government has decided against including Ayari in the Europol and Interpol lists of most wanted. Instead, Spanish authorities have prioritised the capture of a 71-year-old man wanted for a murder that took place in 2003, whose name, rather than Ayari’s, has consequently been added to Europol and Interpol lists.
Thus, Mr. Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón appears to be dismissing the seriousness of this attempt on Alejo Vidal-Quadra’s life, i.e. an opposition member, and to disregard the urgency for apprehending the hitman who carried it out, in order to uncover the mind or minds behind.
Moreover, the Europol list of most wanted is managed by ENFAST (European Network on Fugitive Active Search Teams). It is noteworthy that ENFAST, which has been under a Spanish presidency since FAST Spain took charge of the project in 2021, has not included Ayari in the Europol list on its own initiative.
For all of the above, we, the under-signed MEPs, urge you to secure, possible—whether in coordination with FAST Spain and the Spanish Ministry of the Interior or not—the inclusion of Ayari’s name into the aforementioned list.
